How to become a Skilled Worker in Australia?




AUSTRALIA WANTS SKILLED PEOPLE 

Australia is one of the best economically established destinations in the world. More than a tourist country, Australia is known for a strong independent economy. It's rich in production and export of natural resources that makes it one of the emerging economies in the world. Roughly, 20 years ago, Australia started accepting immigrants in huge numbers and the trend is present till date. No doubt, that the government has amended immigration policies from time to time, but still it remains one among the most looked ahead destination for students as well as skilled people. Globalization has not only created an impact of foreign countries among skilled workers and job seekers but has also given a steady hike to the tourism industry. Whether one has a family, friends in Australia or not, people from Asian and even western countries love to explore Australia. It's attracting feature to the western cold countries is the climate and varied seasons. People find Australia easy to adjust because of the climatic variations and temperatures neither shooting high or dipping low. There are numerous visa categories covered under SKILLED MIGRATION and  this article will contain only programs covered under SKILLS MIGRATION.

1. General Skills Migration 

  • Subclass 189- This is a Skilled Migration Permanent Visa for those applicants who want to work and live in Australia. There is a specified list of categories and people practicing similar profession can apply. The different professions range from variety of industry like

  1. Health Care Professions
  2. Business, Accounting and Finance
  3. Engineers
  4. Technicians
  5. Specialist Managers and many more
  • Subclass 190 - This is a Skilled Migration Permanent Visa for those applicants who want to work and live in Australia and have been nominated by particular state. The government of each state has particular requirements in terms of skills required as per economic needs and industrial structure. Therefore the applicants have to fulfill the requirements of every state for getting nominated. 
  • Subclass 489 - This is a Skilled Migration provisional visa of 4 years for people who want to live and work in a regional area. The candidate has to be either nominated by a state or an eligible relative residing in a designated area. 
2. Sponsored or Nominated Workers
  • Subclass 457 ( Temporary Worker)- This is a provisional visa for workers who have been sponsored by Employers to work for them from 1 day to 4 years. 
  • Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) - This is a permanent visa for skilled workers who have required skills and have been sponsored by employers to work for them on permanent basis. 
  • Subclass 187 ( Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme) - This is a permanent visa for skilled workers who have required skills and have been sponsored by eligible employer in a regional area except Gold coast, Brisbane, Wollongong, New Castle, Sydney or Melbourne).
The categories falling under GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION usually require to pass points assessment. Out of 100 points awarded for different factors, they must be able to score a minimum 60 points criteria.

 The process starts with 

- Analyzing if you qualify under any of the General Skilled Migration Program Subclasses

- Assessing your points from the assessment criteria 

- Preparing for English Test i.e. either IELTS, TOEFL , PTE as these are accepted by Australian high commission

- Getting your experience evaluated from designated authority 

- Applying for State Nomination if you are eligible under Skilled Nomination Program

-  Application for Expression of Interest ( IELTS is mandatory and for Skilled Nomination Program, the candidate must have received Nomination Certificate ) 

- Your profile is selected from a pool of applications 

- When you get invitation to apply for PR, 

- Application for PR within 60 days at Australian High Commission in applicant's home country or country of usual residence.
